What is Sintered Filter element
2026-05-08

Sintered filters are designed for critical filtration applications requiring long service life and high performance, where disposable filters are insufficient.

Sintered filter cartridges are rigid, porous filter components bonded together from metal powders (such as 316L stainless steel, bronze, or nickel) without melting. They provide high-precision, deep filtration of gases and liquids and offer excellent resistance to high temperatures, high pressures, and corrosion. These durable and regenerable filters are widely used in the chemical, petrochemical, and food industries.

Key Characteristics and Features:

Materials: Primarily 316L stainless steel, but also includes alloys such as bronze, nickel, titanium, and Hastelloy.

Filtration Accuracy: Precise, ranging from 0.1µm to 200µm

Temperature Range: Operates under extreme conditions, typically up to 900 degrees Celsius

Pressure Resistance: High mechanical strength allows it to withstand high pressure differentials and operate under certain pressures.

Structural Advantages: Typically cylindrical, offering high dirt-holding capacity and uniform pore size.

Renewable: Can be cleaned and reused multiple times using backwashing, ultrasonic cleaning, or chemical solvents.

Rugged and Durable: Withstands thermal shock and harsh working environments.

No Media Migration: Fixed pore structure ensures no material contamination.

Common Applications:

Steam Filtration: Cooking steam filtration in the food and pharmaceutical industries (5-micron filter cartridge).

Chemical Processing: Filtering corrosive liquids, gases, and high-temperature fluids.

Industrial Processes: Catalyst recovery, liquid/gas purification, and jetting.

Automotive: Used as mufflers or silencers in pneumatic components.

Common Material Types:

Sintered Powder Metal: Made from powder particles.

Sintered Mesh/Fiber: Made from woven metal mesh or metal fibers with specific permeability.
